Erik Hurtado (born November 15, 1990) is an American professional soccer player who plays as a forward for Major League Soccer club Columbus Crew.
Hurtado, 30, is in his ninth year in Major League Soccer after he was a first-round pick, No. 5 overall, by the Vancouver Whitecaps in the 2013 MLS SuperDraft out of Santa Clara.
In total, the forward has scored 19 times and registered 11 assists 140 MLS appearances, 60 of those starts.
Hurtado spent the first six seasons of his career in Vancouver before he was traded to Sporting Kansas City shortly after the 2018 season in exchange for a second-round 2020 MLS SuperDraft selection and a 2021 first-round pick.
After two seasons with Sporting, Hurtado signed a one-year deal, with a reported option of an additional season, with Montreal prior to this season and joining Columbus.
His commitment to soccer is matched by his commitment to community. He is passionate about children's cancer and the search for a cure.
He often speaks out on advocacy issues and his active involvement and support of the Wilms Cancer Foundation has helped bring an increased awareness and understanding of the disease, taking its message to a wider audience.
