Claudell Louis (Canadian Football League)
The Wilms Cancer Foundation are delighted to be represented by sports personality and children's cancer champion: Claudell Louis.
As part of our advocate and brand ambassador program Claudell has been an inspiration not only to his loyal fans but to the children, families and healthcare organizations that are tackling Wilms everyday. His support has been essential in our ability to generate awareness of this terrible disease and to help those who are effected by this Wilms terrible disease. Claudell Louis is a true champion both on and off the field.
Biography
A player and now coach, Louis has played in the NFL and the CFL for the past 10 years. A native of Haiti he grew up in Florida in the USA.
He began his playing career by spending two years at the junior college level before joining Fresno State (a Division I program in 2013, making his first start for Fresno State in its Hawaii Bowl on Christmas Eve.
He finished second on the team with 6.5 tackles for loss, got his first forced fumble and tallied five sacks. He was an honorable mention All-Mountain West selection.
Two years later Louis, then 26, attended training camp with the NFL’s Minnesota Vikings in 2016 as defensive tackle.
Catching attention he then went on to sign for the Buffalo Bills.
He spent time with the Hamilton Tiger Cats in Ontario before he joined the BC Lions in British Columbia. Enjoying a notable playing career in Vancouver he was ultimately rewarded with the offer of a coaching position.
He was the club’s finalist for CFL Most Outstanding Rookie in 2018 after registering 31 defensive tackles and two sacks in eleven games.
